[Saba Sports News] Quetta Gladiators will have a new captain for Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 as Sarfaraz Ahmed decided to step down from the position.
The owner of Quetta Gladiators Nadeem Omer confirmed this on Monday, informing that Sarfaraz has been removed as the franchise’s skipper as Sarfaraz wanted to take a break from captaincy.
As revealed, a new captain will be named after consultations with head coach Shane Watson and the team management.
Rilee Rossouw and Saud Shakeel are the two captaincy options, who can replace Sarfaraz.
“Sarfaraz wants to take a break from captaincy with new head coach Shane Watson set to decide who will lead the side after consulting with the team management,” Nadeem Omer said as quoted by Geo News.
Sarfaraz led the Gladiators to two finals and the title in 2019. From 2020 onwards, Quetta failed to live up to the expectations, not making the playoffs even once.
Quetta Gladiators will kick-off their PSL 9 campaign on February 18 versus Peshawar Zalmi at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
