[Saba Sports News] England pacer James Anderson divulged on his retirement plans, saying that he aims to end his career on a positive note.
The 41-year-old cited the example of former England captain Eoin Morgan, whose retirement came as a surprise. He had led England to the ODI World Cup title in 2019. Anderson hopes that he also call it quits in the same fashion.
“I would like to be able to go out on a nice note. I don’t want to drag it out and people are thinking: “Can you just do one.’ Morgs (Morgan) last year woke up and just knew it was time to call it a day. I am just hoping that is the case,” Anderson said as quoted to The Telegraph.
“I feel privileged to have got in a position where I can make a decision because, as a bowler, it is usually taken out of your hands with injury or selection. It will be nice to go out on my own terms, but when that will be, you just have to wait and see,” he added.
Anderson has the highest number of wickets for a fast-bowler in the Test format. He currently has 696 scalps to his name and can become the first pacer to enter the the 700 club. He can achieve this feat in the ongoing Test series versus India.
