[Saba Sports News] Alpine Racing has encountered another challenge at
the beginning of the new season. Reports from Bahrain indicate that prior to
the Bahrain Grand Prix, the team’s two senior technical leaders, technical
director Matt Harman and aerodynamics director Dirk De Beer, have submitted
their resignations and are currently on gardening leave. Alpine will implement
a new structure with three technical directors: Joe Burnell as technical
director of engineering, David Whit as technical director of aerodynamics, and
Ciaran Peel as technical director of aerodynamics. Siren Peelbeim will serve as
the performance technical director. Alpine Racing has not officially confirmed
these developments. The Alpine team’s car for the 2024 season, the A524, has
been criticized for being overweight and lacking in aerodynamic performance,
making it uncompetitive. Matt Harman and Dirk De Beer faced criticism from the
media and fans for this. It is clear that the Alpine team will face a
challenging start to the season. In the opening race in Bahrain, the Alpine
team performed poorly, with their two drivers qualifying at the bottom.
Although there was some improvement during the race, they only managed to
finish in 17th or 18th place.
