[Saba Sports News] Cranbury, New Jersey, March 5, 2024: The Royals Sports Group-owned Rajasthan Royals announced the inauguration of their first academy in the United States, located in Cranbury, New Jersey. The launch event featured Siddhartha Lahiri, the Royals’ Head of Academy Coaching, who led a training session for the academy’s coaches and conducted masterclasses for over 50 aspiring cricketers.
The RR Academy New Jersey is the franchise’s first in North America, boasting both outdoor and indoor facilities, the latter comprising a 10,000 sq. ft. area with six batting lanes and advanced cricket equipment. This establishment aims to nurture local talent and coaches, aligning them with the Royals’ coaching philosophy and techniques, especially focusing on skills relevant to T20 cricket and the IPL.
The academy is set to play a pivotal role in developing cricket in the U.S., coinciding with the growing interest in the sport and the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Enrolled youngsters will benefit from comprehensive training programs, participate in global tournaments, receive expert feedback, and have opportunities to visit the Royals’ High-Performance Center in India, potentially leading to trials with the team.
Siddhartha Lahiri highlighted the academy’s role in tapping into the U.S.’s emerging cricket talent, providing expert coaching and fostering development. CricLanes co-founders, Hiren Patel and Bhavin Savaliya, now partners with the Rajasthan Royals, expressed their enthusiasm for the collaboration, emphasizing the opportunity for local coaches and players to advance their skills and embrace the “Royals Way.”
