[Saba Sports News] According to RacingNews365,
Jerome D’Ambrosio, the driver development director of the Mercedes team, will
be joining the Ferrari team. D’Ambrosio initially began informal cooperation
with Mercedes at the start of last year and was officially appointed as driver
development director 12 months ago. His main responsibility was overseeing the
development of young drivers in the Mercedes team across various racing series
worldwide. D’Ambrosio often appeared alongside team CEO Toto Wolff during Grand
Prix weekends and even served as team principal in Wolff’s absence. It appears
that D’Ambrosio was being considered as a potential successor to Wolff as the
team principal at Mercedes. However, after just a year in his role at Mercedes,
D’Ambrosio has been poached by Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur, who has a
history of recruiting key figures from Mercedes. The move is seen as a
strategic move to counter their competitors. The specific start date and role
for D’Ambrosio at Ferrari have not been disclosed at this stage.
