[Saba
Sports News] Reports from Italian media indicate that the headquarters of AC
Milan has been raided by the Milan Prosecutor’s Office. The current CEO of AC
Milan, Giorgio Furlani, and former CEO Ivan Gazidis have been arrested on
suspicion of obstructing the investigation into company activities. The
prosecutors suspect that AC Milan is still under the control of the Elliott
Fund. Although the Redbird Fund officially acquired AC Milan from the Elliott
Fund on August 31, 2022, the prosecutors believe that the Elliott Fund has continued
to exert control over the club. The investigation was initiated based on three
documents obtained from undisclosed sources. These documents raised concerns
about the club’s ownership structure and control, including allegations made by
AC Milan minority shareholder Blue Skye, a Luxembourg investment group,
regarding the Redbird Fund’s takeover of the club. Additionally, another
document highlighted AC Milan’s interactions with potential Arab investors
during the winter transfer window. As a result, inspections were conducted at
the AC Milan headquarters and the residences of the suspects, leading to the
seizure of mobile phones and computers belonging to the individuals involved.
If the allegations are substantiated, AC Milan may face consequences from UEFA.
The situation is still developing, and further information is awaited regarding
the outcome of the investigation.
