[Saba Sports News] The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) of the Indian Premier League (IPL) have appointed Adam Voges, the former Australian cricketer, as their batting consultant for the 2024 season.
Voges will collaborate with Justin Langer, the team’s head coach since last year, and recently joined assistant coach, former South African all-rounder Lance Klusener. Langer, reflecting on their longstanding connection from their days at Western Australia Cricket and Perth Scorchers, praised Voges’ impactful coaching and leadership.
He highlighted Voges’ transition from captain to a commendable head coach in Western Australian cricket, emphasizing the value he’ll bring to LSG.
Voges, who played 20 Tests, 31 ODIs, and 7 T20Is for Australia, is renowned for his debut Test century at 35 and his impressive averages across formats. Besides his international career, he has a rich IPL history with the Rajasthan Royals and a successful coaching record, having led Western Australia and Perth Scorchers to multiple domestic and BBL championships.
Langer expressed excitement about Voges’ involvement, acknowledging his significant coaching skills and successful cricketing background.
“He and I have a long association together through Western Australia cricket and Perth Scorchers. He himself is a very successful head coach. When I was the coach there [at Western Australia], he was the captain. He took over from me and has done a phenomenal job in West Australian cricket. So, to have him involved with LSG is a great bonus for all of us. He is an outstanding person and an excellent coach. He will bring in so much. We are very thrilled to have him involved,” stated Langer.
