[Saba Sports News] Red Bull Racing has maintained
a dominant performance in the early stages of the 2023 season, securing first
and second places in the first two races. Some fans believe that Max Verstappen
has a strong chance of winning the world championship for the fourth
consecutive year and even surpassing his 10-game winning streak from last year.
However, concerns have been raised regarding the potential decline in F1’s
popularity due to Red Bull Racing’s two-year monopoly. Additionally, criticism
has emerged regarding the perceived ineffectiveness of the new ground effect
rules introduced in 2022, as other teams struggle to compete for the
championship against Red Bull Racing, and the overall team hierarchy remains
relatively unchanged. In response to these concerns, Toto Wolff, the principal
of Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team, expressed his disagreement. He argued that it
would be misguided to solely blame Red Bull Racing for their prolonged
dominance. According to Wolff, the only way to defeat Red Bull Racing is for
each team to diligently focus on developing their own cars. He emphasized that
regardless of their current rankings, the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team will
continue their relentless efforts in research and development, prioritizing the
pursuit of the championship. Wolff made it clear that issues concerning
technical regulations are beyond their purview.
