[Saba Sports News] Brandon Ingram endured a scare with a knee injury during Thursday night’s game, causing concern for the New Orleans Pelicans. However, there’s relief as recent updates provide better news.
During the Pelicans’ 121-106 loss to the Orlando Magic, Ingram had to exit the game in the third quarter following a left knee injury sustained while defending Jalen Suggs. The sight of Ingram clutching his knee and being assisted off the court was alarming.
Thankfully, subsequent evaluations revealed that the injury wasn’t as severe as initially feared. The Pelicans announced on Friday that Ingram hyperextended his knee, resulting in a bone contusion. He is scheduled for re-evaluation in two weeks.
While a bone contusion can be painful, the positive aspect is that there’s no structural damage to Ingram’s knee. With the playoffs still a month away, there’s optimism that he’ll recover fully in time.
Ingram’s contributions to the Pelicans this season have been significant, averaging 20.9 points, 5.8 assists, and 5.1 rebounds per game. He has played in 63 games, marking his highest total since his rookie season with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2016-17.
Currently holding a 42-27 record and occupying 5th place in the Western Conference, the Pelicans’ focus now shifts to ensuring Ingram’s health for the postseason.
