[Saba Sports News] Pakistan batsman Azam Khan’s participation in the T20I series against New Zealand is in question as he struggled to complete a fitness test during the team’s training camp at the Kakul Academy.
Reports state that while other players underwent a two-kilometer run evaluation, Khan fell short, managing only one and a half kilometers before stopping. His time for the completed distance was reportedly 20 minutes.
In contrast, other Pakistani cricketers showcased their fitness. Irfanullah Khan Niazi emerged as the frontrunner, completing the entire two kilometers in an impressive 6 minutes and 47 seconds.
Khan’s fitness struggles raise concerns about his selection for upcoming matches. National team selection is often contingent on passing these evaluations, and Khan’s performance will be a talking point for selectors.
It’s important to note that Khan isn’t the only player missing out on the full test. Imad Wasim missed the run due to potential knee injury concerns, while Fakhar Zaman and Haris Rauf are still recovering from injuries sustained during the PSL. Captain Babar Azam is also expected to join the camp later this week.
