Rohit Sharma is currently the Mumbai Indians’ royal. Nobody knows, though, what will transpire during the massive auction later this year. After being stripped of the MI captaincy prior to the 2024 Indian Premier League, there are endless rumours about Rohit’s future. Ambati Rayudu hinted that Rohit would leave the Delhi Capitals and join the Chennai Super Kings, finishing his IPL career in yellow. However, users on X have also suggested that he might join the Delhi Capitals. In the midst of all of this, the Lucknow Super Giants are another team that seemed thrilled about the idea of signing Rohit, should the chance present itself.
Justin Langer was asked to name one player whom he would like to get on board, and as Rohit’s name was floated, the LSG coach could not keep calm. “One guy I want? Hmmm… if I could have anyone…. who do you think?” Langer asked the person taking his interview. As the interviewer weighed in: “We have most of our bases covered. But do you think you can get Rohit Sharma?”, Langer sported a beaming smile on his face.
“Rohit Sharma? Hahaha. We’re going to get him from Mumbai… Well, you better be the negotiator,” the coach said.
The owners of all ten clubs will gather on December 16th to discuss the terms of the upcoming IPL mega-auction, which is expected to take place later this year. Player retention is one of the hottest topics of conversation, and the board is thinking of raising the cap. Before the most recent mega-auction in 2022, teams could keep up to four players with a single Right-to-Match card. But now that the RTM factor is gone, teams are looking for stability, which might allow them to keep more than four players.
