[Saba Sports News] Star India batter Suryakumar Yadav will the miss the T20I series against Afghanistan due to an ankle injury, as per the reports.
Suryakumar injured his ankle while fielding in the third T20I of the series versus South Africa and went off the field. Ravindra Jadeja became the captain in his absence.
The Indian Express has shed light on the extent of the injury, claiming it to be a Grade-II ankle tear, which will rule him out of action for seven weeks.
The numero uno T20I batsman will get fit by the first week of February. However, he will be unavailable for the three T20Is against Afghanistan, which fall in between the recovery period.
“He will take some time to recover. He will have to report to the National Cricket Academy later to do his rehabilitation. He is surely going to miss the Afghanistan series,” a BCCI source said as quoted to The Indian Express.
The series versus Afghanistan will be India’s last T20I assignment before the next year’s World Cup, scheduled in the West Indies and the USA.
It will be interesting to see who will captain India in that series with both Hardik Pandya and Rohit Sharma expected to mark their comebacks.
