[Saba Sports News] The cricket world is abuzz with the news of Hardik Pandya becoming the Mumbai Indians (MI) ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.
Mumbai Indians replaced the joint-most successful IPL skipper Rohit Sharma with Pandya, bringing an end to the former’s 10-year captaincy stint.
For the unversed, Pandya was traded back to Mumbai Indians on the IPL 2024 retention day by Gujarat Titans, a team that was led to a trophy in its debut season by the all-rounder.
As per The Indian Express, Rohit was informed about Pandya’s trade by MI before the start of the ODI World Cup 2023. In a series of meetings, the franchise had discussed with Rohit about a captaincy change as Pandya, reportedly, was willing to move to MI only if he is given the charge of the side.
According to the report, Rohit agreed with MI’s vision, showing no objection to playing under Pandya’s captaincy in the upcoming IPL edition.
