[Saba Sports News] The player shortlist for the 2024 IPL Auction, announced on December 11, features 333 cricketers, including 214 Indians and 119 overseas players, with two from associate nations. The auction includes 23 players with the highest reserve price of INR 2 Crore, among them Indian cricketers Harshal Patel, Shardul Thakur, and Umesh Yadav.
The top bracket also comprises international stars like Harry Brook, Travis Head, and Steve Smith. Notable mentions are Australia’s Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc, England’s Chris Woakes, and South Africa’s Gerald Coetzee. Seven Australians and seven Englishmen, including 2023 World Cup standout Travis Head and Harry Brook, respectively, are in this highest base price category. South African pacer Coetzee, New Zealand’s Lockie Ferguson, Bangladesh’s Mustafizur Rahman, and Afghanistan’s Mujeeb Ur Rahman also feature.
Thirteen players are in the second-highest base price of INR 1.5 Crore, all overseas, including Wanindu Hasaranga and Jason Holder. The INR 1 Crore bracket has 14 players like Namibia’s David Wiese, while the INR 75 Lakh category includes 11 players.
Associate players like Netherlands’ Paul van Mekeren are in the lowest base price bracket of INR 20 Lakh. New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra and Afghanistan’s Azmatullah Omarzai are listed in the INR 50 Lakh category.
The IPL auction, scheduled for December 19 at Dubai’s Coca-Cola Arena, has 77 slots available, including a maximum of 30 for overseas players, with a total purse of INR 262.95 Crore. Kolkata Knight Riders have the most slots to fill (12), while Gujarat Titans have the largest purse (INR 38.15 Crore).
