[Saba Sports News] Pakistan legspinner Abrar Ahmed will miss the first Test against Australia due to a knee injury, and his availability for the remainder of the series is uncertain. While not yet ruled out for the second and third Tests, Pakistan has added Sajid Khan to the squad as a precautionary measure.
The injury occurred during a match against the Australia Prime Minister XI, affecting Abrar’s right knee. He will stay with the team in Perth to receive treatment and his condition will be re-evaluated prior to the Boxing Day Test.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) explained that an initial diagnosis prompted an MRI scan. Abrar is scheduled for a medical intervention in Perth, followed by a rehabilitation program overseen by the team’s medical staff. His continued participation in the series will depend on a further assessment before the second Test, keeping his long-term wellbeing and future tours in consideration.
“During an assessment by the medical team, a provisional diagnosis was made – justifying an MRI scan, which was done on the same day,” a PCB release shared. “Abrar will undergo an intervention in Perth on Monday, after which conservative rehabilitation under the supervision of the team’s medical staff, will continue his road to recovery. “He has not been ruled out of the Test series yet, but keeping the player’s wellbeing in mind for this and future tours, further assessment before the second Test will ascertain his availability on this tour.”
Pakistan’s Test series begins in Perth on December 14, with the second Test scheduled for December 26 at the MCG and the final Test starting on January 3 at the SCG.
