[Saba Sports News] Rilee Rossouw, representing Delhi Bulls in the Abu Dhabi T10, has been the center of attention in IPL auction discussions. Last year, he sparked a bidding duel between Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals, eventually being snapped up by the Capitals for ₹4.60 crore, more than double his base price. However, his IPL comeback after eight years yielded a decent but not game-changing performance of 209 runs in 9 matches, contributing to Delhi’s ninth-place finish in 2023.
Despite a less than stellar year by his standards, except for a strong showing in the PSL, Rossouw remains a key figure for the upcoming IPL auction on December 19. He anticipates another bidding war, possibly involving his former team, Delhi Capitals, and Kolkata Knight Riders. “I think Delhi Capitals was really good to me last year… It would be nice if it would be a little bit of a bidding war,” Rossouw shared with Hindustan Times.
In Major League Cricket, Rossouw played for the Los Angeles Knight Riders, where despite the team’s overall struggles, he shone individually. He emphasized his commitment to perform well for any team he represents.
Speaking on the IPL’s grandeur, Rossouw observed that the league operates on a larger scale than others, creating a glamorous and fan-engaging atmosphere. He acknowledged the IPL as one of the best leagues globally.
In the current Abu Dhabi T10 season, Rossouw’s performance has been mixed, with him pointing out the unexpectedly challenging pitch conditions. “The pitches have been doing a lot more than in the previous seven seasons… You need to adjust your game a bit,” he remarked.
Despite not being selected for South Africa’s home series against India, Rossouw is optimistic about his prospects in the T20 World Cup next year. He stays in touch with the national coach and focuses on performing well, irrespective of selection outcomes. He also commented on Aiden Markram’s leadership against India and the exciting opportunities for young South African talent.
Rossouw believes South Africa will have an edge in the upcoming series against India but expects a closely fought contest, given the talents on both sides.
