[Saba Sports News] In significant news for England’s women’s cricket, 25-year-old Emma Lamb has been withdrawn from the squad for their upcoming one-off Test against India due to a back injury. England women are currently engaged in a three-match T20I series against India.
Following the T20I series, the teams will compete in a one-off Test match at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai, scheduled for December 14. Lamb will return to England for medical consultation with a spine surgeon to assess the injury’s severity. The England Cricket Board has announced Maia Bouchier as her replacement, with Kirstie Gordon also joining the Heather Knight-led squad.
The ECB statement read, “Emma Lamb has been withdrawn from the England Women Test squad to play India due to a back problem. Lamb has returned home to the UK, where she will see a spinal surgeon to determine the next steps.”
The England squad for the one-off Test includes Tammy Beaumont, Lauren Bell, Maia Bouchier, Alice Capsey, Kate Cross, Charlie Dean, Sophia Dunkley, Sophie Ecclestone, Lauren Filer, Kirstie Gordon, Bess Heath, Amy Jones, Heather Knight (captain), Nat Sciver-Brunt, and Danielle Wyatt.
In the ongoing T20I series, England took a lead in the first match at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on December 6. They set a formidable total of 197 runs, with Nat Sciver-Brunt and Danni Wyatt contributing significantly. India fell short in their chase, scoring 159 runs, resulting in England’s 38-run victory. The second T20I is scheduled for December 9 at the same venue.
