[Saba Sports News] Pakistan leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed faced an injury scare in the ongoing warm-up match against the Prime Minister’s XI.
As revealed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Abrar experienced discomfort in his right leg after bowling just eight overs on the third day of the practice game being played at the Manuka Oval, Canberra.
As a precautionary measure, Abrar walked off the field and did not take further part in the match. He was sent for an MRI scan, the report of which is pending.
“Leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed complained of discomfort in his right leg after bowling eight overs on the third day of a four-day game against Prime Minister’s XI. As a result, the 25-year-old was taken off the field. Following his complaint, Abrar was sent for an MRI scan. Further details will be shared in due course after medical panel assesses the MRI reports,” the PCB press release stated.
Known as a mystery spinner, Abrar has claimed 38 wickets in six Tests matches so far. He is expected to lead Pakistan’s spin attack in the upcoming Test series versus Australia, starting on December 14 in Perth.
If he is declared unfit, Pakistan will be left in a bind as they only have one another specialist spinner, Nouman Ali, in the their squad.
