[Saba Sports News] Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing concludes the
year with 19 victories and 21 podium finishes, securing his third world
championship title. Yesterday, “Forbes” unveiled the 2023 Formula One
income rankings, with Verstappen leading the list with a total income of $70
million. His earnings consist of a base salary of $45 million and $25 million
in tournament bonuses. The prize money alone earned by Verstappen nearly
matches the annual salary of Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc. In second place is
Lewis Hamilton from Mercedes, with an annual salary of $55 million but no race
bonuses. This season, Hamilton has achieved six podium finishes, all in third
place, without securing a win. As per the terms of his contract with Mercedes,
Hamilton will only receive bonus income if he emerges as the race winner.
Taking the third spot is veteran driver Fernando Alonso of Aston Martin, who
receives a base salary of $25 million and a $10 million bonus. Alonso has
reached the podium eight times during this season.
