[Saba Sports News] Indian cricket team’s head coach, Rahul Dravid, and his wife Vijeta were seen at the SDNRW Ground in Mysuru on Friday, December 01, attending the Cooch Behar U-16 Trophy match between Karnataka and Uttarakhand.
They were there to support their son, Samit Dravid, who is part of the Karnataka team. Samit has been in the spotlight since 2018, following his impressive 150-run innings in a KSCA BTR Under-14 tournament. He also played for Karnataka in the 2023 Vinoo Mankad Trophy but had a modest performance, scoring 122 runs in four innings, including a half-century.
His notable 87 off 95 balls against Mumbai featured ten fours, but Karnataka fell short, losing by 46 runs. Samit also took 2/59 with the ball in that match. His younger brother, Anvay, is also making waves in cricket, leading Karnataka’s U14 team.
In parallel, Rahul Dravid’s tenure as India’s head coach was recently extended by the BCCI. Appointed in 2021 following India’s early exit from the T20 World Cup, Dravid’s leadership has spanned over two years.
Despite India not securing a major trophy since 2014, including losses in the semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2022 and finals of the 2023 World Test Championship and ODI World Cup, Dravid’s impact has been positive. Under his guidance, India has shown consistent performances across formats, leading to top rankings in all three formats.
