[Saba Sports News] Former F1 driver Hans-Joachim Stuck
expressed the opinion that Red Bull’s current driver, Sergio Perez, is
“not worth the money.” Sergio Perez, who races for Red Bull, recently
engaged in a intense on-track battle with Fernando Alonso during the Sao Paulo
Grand Prix, narrowly missing out on a podium finish. However, this is not the
first time Perez has faced setbacks, as he has previously struggled at the
Mexican Grand Prix. Despite driving the same model of car with similar
performance as defending champion Max Verstappen, he has been unable to match
Verstappen’s speed and consistency. According to Stuck, the disparity between
Perez and Verstappen lies in their mental approach. Stuck believes that if
Perez does not improve, he may be replaced by other drivers. Earlier this
summer, Perez sought assistance from a psychological coach after losing to
Verstappen. His confidence took a hit, and his performance suffered as a
result. A lack of self-confidence and constant worry about performance have
hindered his driving skills, potentially impacting his future with Red Bull
Racing. At 33 years old, Perez faced a crucial decision in his career. He must
decide whether to prepare for a potential departure from F1 within the next 12
months or renegotiate his contract with Red Bull Racing, potentially accepting
a reduced salary.
