[Saba Sports News] Ravi Ashwin showed his admiration for Mohammed Shami’s historic 7-wicket haul in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup semi-final by kissing his hand in the dressing room. The match, held at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, saw India, led by Rohit Sharma, defeat New Zealand by 70 runs, earning a place in the final.
India set a challenging total of 397, with vital innings from Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer. Shami, delivering a career-best 7/57, played a key role in defending the score. Bumrah, Siraj, and Yadav also contributed with wickets.
After initially being benched, Shami proved pivotal from India’s fifth game against New Zealand in Dharamshala, taking five wickets. His exceptional form continued, with a 5/18 performance against Sri Lanka in Mumbai. In the semi-final, he set a record as the fastest to 50 ODI World Cup wickets. Throughout the tournament, Shami has claimed 23 wickets in six innings, averaging 9.13 with an economy of 5.01.
