[Saba Sports News] New Zealand all-rounder Glenn Phillips is confident in his team’s ability to smoothly transition from ODIs to Test cricket, thanks to their process-driven approach. The New Zealand team, which arrived in Bangladesh on November 22, has started training at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium for their upcoming two-match Test series, beginning November 28. This follows an eight-month focus on white-ball cricket, including their recent participation in the ICC World Cup in India, where they reached the semi-finals.
Phillips emphasized the team’s consistent process across formats during their practice session at SICS. He believes the team’s focus on their established methods will aid in adapting to the Test format, whether playing with a white or red ball. The break in Dubai after the World Cup, where players had time for rest and family visits, was also beneficial in preparing for the Test series.
Surprised by the greener wicket conditions in Bangladesh, Phillips is looking forward to a balanced game in both batting and bowling. This tour is his first with the senior team in Bangladesh, having previously visited with the U-19 team during the 2016 ICC U-19 World Cup.
Phillips, the sole off-spin bowler in the team, sees an opportunity to impact the game, especially against Bangladesh’s left-handed batters. He feels his unique bowling style could put pressure on the opposition. The tour will conclude with a Test at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka starting December 6.
