Sports News] According to reports from British media, Chelsea’s plans to
rebuild Stamford Bridge will face a delay, pushing the project back until at
least 2027. Despite Chelsea’s £80 million purchase of a plot of land
surrounding the stadium, the redevelopment will have to wait. The recently
acquired 2.47-acre land was previously owned by the veterans charity Stoll. The
acquisition clears the path for Chelsea to proceed with their plans, which
include options such as a complete stadium rebuild, stand reconstruction, or
even relocation to a new site. However, the official takeover of the land will
not occur until 2027, allowing residents currently living on the land to have
ample time to relocate during the leaseback period. Additionally, Chelsea aims
to upgrade their Cobham training center. Although the facilities are not old,
having been in use for 15 years, the club is looking to enhance the training
facilities. The overall cost of the Stamford Bridge construction project is
expected to be around £1 billion.
