[Saba Sports News] In the recently concluded
European Cup qualifiers, Belgium secured a resounding 5-0 victory over
Azerbaijan, with Belgian star Romelu Lukaku scoring four goals and becoming the
hero of the team’s victory. Afterwards, some media outlets expressed concern
and questioned why Chelsea, the English Premier League team, chose to loan
Lukaku to AS Roma in Serie A. This raises doubts about the wisdom of Chelsea’s
strategy. Lukaku has been loaned out by Chelsea for three consecutive seasons,
despite the absence of a mandatory buyout clause. Loaning out a strong and
capable striker for three consecutive seasons undoubtedly weakens Chelsea’s
competitiveness. The lack of a stable scoring option has long been criticised externally
regarding Chelsea’s squad, and Lukaku, who possesses a consistent goal-scoring
ability, has been strategically abandoned by the club.
