[Saba Sports News] In his initial month with ESPN’s NBA broadcasting team, Doc Rivers is already making notable contributions. While commentating alongside Dave Pasch on a recent Los Angeles Lakers vs. Sacramento Kings game, Rivers shared an intriguing anecdote about Dennis Rodman, his former teammate.
According to Rivers, during their stint with the San Antonio Spurs in the 90s, he entrusted Rodman to babysit his son, Austin. Rodman, who accepted the one-night babysitting role, reportedly did a commendable job, although he left Rivers’ house in disarray.
This incident occurred when Rivers and Rodman were Spurs teammates in the 1994-95 NBA season, making Austin about two or three years old at the time. The period is notable for Rodman’s eccentric behavior, marked by his hair dyeing, frequent ejections, and high-profile relationship with Madonna.
Rivers’ decision to choose Rodman as a babysitter during such a tumultuous phase is quite remarkable, and this story might even feature in the upcoming film about Rodman, known as “The Worm.”
