[Saba Sports News] India are gearing up for a momentous clash against the five-time World Cup champions Australia in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 final. The showdown is set to unfold at the illustrious Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, renowned as the world’s largest cricket ground.
Coincidentally, two decades ago, India and Australia faced off in the World Cup 2003 final, where the Men in Yellow emerged victorious. Now, India see a golden opportunity to clinch the coveted trophy for the third time, having last won in 2011, seeking redemption after a 20-year wait.
Adding to the spectacle, the honorable Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, may grace the stadium to witness this high-stakes encounter. Notably, he had previously attended the Narendra Modi Stadium in March to witness the fourth Test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023 between India and Australia.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is planning a grand closing ceremony before the final, promising a unique viewing experience for cricket fans. The renowned English and Albanian singer-songwriter, Dua Lipa, is set to captivate the audience with a performance in front of 1.30 billion spectators.
Various Bollywood stars are also expected to watch the final live from the stadium.
To compensate for the absence of an opening ceremony, the BCCI organized a musical extravaganza ahead of the World Cup match between India and Pakistan on October 14 at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Live performances by Arijit Singh, Sunidhi Chauhan, Shankar Mahadevan and Sukhwinder Singh turned the stands into a dance floor, delighting fans with their tunes.
India are poised for its fourth World Cup final appearance, having previously contested in 1983, 2003, and 2011. Meanwhile, cricketing powerhouse Australia will play its eighth final, with previous appearances in 1975, 1987, 1996, 1999, 2003, 2007 and 2015, setting the stage for an epic clash between the two giants.
