[Saba Sports News] Philadelphia police expressed doubts about the alleged hit-and-run involving 76ers forward Kelly Oubre Jr., but a recent video offers more insight. Oubre reported being struck by a vehicle last Saturday near his home in Center City, Philadelphia, resulting in broken ribs and other injuries.
However, the Philadelphia Police Department noted the lack of photographic or video evidence of the incident at the reported location. After reviewing over two hours of surveillance footage, two local business employees found no signs of the accident.
Sgt. Eric Gripp, a police spokesperson, clarified that Oubre wasn’t being accused of dishonesty. As a recent signee with the 76ers, it’s possible that Oubre misidentified the accident site.
New evidence emerged on Wednesday when TMZ released footage of an injured Oubre returning home, indicating he was hit by a car. Oubre was reportedly unsure of the exact location when interviewed in the hospital hours after the incident.
Oubre has been a significant contributor to the 76ers this season, averaging 16.3 points and 5.1 rebounds in eight games. While expected to return this season, his recovery timeline remains uncertain.
