[Saba Sports News] In the latest Serie A match, AC
Milan suffered a setback as they conceded two goals in quick succession while
leading by two goals, ultimately resulting in a 2-2 draw against Lecce. During
the game, AC Milan’s goal scorer, Olivier Giroud, was shown a red card for
engaging in aggressive language and complaining to the referee. Following the
match, Italian media analysed the regulations and suggested that Giroud could
potentially face a four-game suspension. Previously, the maximum suspension for
verbal offenses against referees was two games. However, in April 2023, Serie A
implemented rule changes that allow for up to a four-game suspension for such
incidents. The severity of the punishment will depend on how the referee,
Abisso, documents Giroud’s behaviour in the match report and how the sports
arbitration body handles the case.
