[Saba Sports News] The golf cart injury to star Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has shocked the cricket world. Due to a concussion suffered when he slipped and fell from the back of the cart, Maxwell won’t be available for Australia’s next game against England on November 4.
In response to Maxwell’s injury, Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis suggested that having mothers on tour might help take better care of the players. Stoinis acknowledged that Maxwell’s injury was unfortunate but suggested that it occurred as a result of typical behavior among the players.
“It’s unfortunate. It was one of those things. Unfortunately, it happened with boys being boys to an extent. Yeah, it’s hard. I mean, it’s like you need a mom on tour going, ‘Ehhh, don’t do that..don’t do that,'” Stoinis commented.
Stoinis also mentioned that there have been a few accidents in the broader cricket community and that the extended time away from home can lead to such incidents. He questioned where to draw the line when it comes to risky activities but agreed that there have been some injuries in the cricket community recently.
Regarding star all-rounder Mitchell Marsh’s return to Australia for personal reasons, Stoinis expressed support for Marsh’s decision. Marsh’s return means he will miss the crucial clash against England, and it remains uncertain when he will return to India.
“Mitch flew home late last night. He’s got a family issue going on. And like we all know, family is very important. And the most important really, so he’s doing the right thing and he’s getting home and he’s seeing the people he needs to see, and then I don’t think there’s a timeline on when he’s coming back but I’m sure he’ll do what he needs to do at home and then get back,” Stoinis explained.
