[Saba Sports News] Bangladesh fast bowler Shoriful Islam believes that Mustafizur Rahman finds more enjoyment playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) than representing his country due to the lower pressure in the franchise-based T20 tournament compared to the intense expectations he faces while playing for Bangladesh.
Mustafizur has performed well for Chennai Super Kings in the ongoing IPL, claiming 11 wickets in six matches. Despite having a relatively quiet year in international cricket, he has demonstrated his skills against strong opponents during the IPL season.
“I follow every game and every delivery Mustafizur bowls. We discuss his performances the day after each match,” Shoriful stated. “I think Mustafizur prefers playing in the IPL over representing Bangladesh. The pressure is less in the IPL. When playing for Bangladesh, there are high expectations, and if you don’t perform well, the pressure mounts,” he explained.
“He has been consistent in the IPL. However, he has struggled in the last few matches for the national team. By pressure, I mean there are high expectations due to his past performances.
Perhaps, he hasn’t been able to meet those expectations in recent matches,” Shoriful concluded.
Mustafizur will participate in three more IPL matches before returning home. His final game of the season with Chennai Super Kings will be against Punjab Kings on May 1, after which he will join the national squad for the series against Zimbabwe beginning on May 3.
