[Saba Sports News] Virat Kohli displayed a brilliant century, his 48th in ODI cricket, during India’s World Cup match against Bangladesh at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. Kohli now stands just one century shy of Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 49 ODI centuries. Mohammad Kaif, who represented India in 138 international matches, praised Kohli for his mastery of run-making in ODIs.
Kaif said, “When Virat Kohli wants a 100, he gets it. So what if India needed just 169 to win when he came out to bat. Few understand the art of run-making in ODIs like him.”
Kohli’s unbeaten 103 off 97 balls earned him the Player of the Match award as India won the game against Bangladesh by seven wickets. During the post-match presentation, Kohli highlighted the positive atmosphere in the dressing room and its impact on the team’s performance.
“There’s a great atmosphere in the change room, we are loving each others’ company, and the spirit is there for everyone to see on the field,” Kohli said.
With four consecutive victories, India currently sits in the second position on the ODI World Cup 2023 points table, with New Zealand leading due to a better net run rate (NRR). These two teams are set to clash in what promises to be an exciting match on Sunday, October 22, in Dharamsala.
