[Saba Sports News] Jos Buttler sustained a hand injury while attempting to catch a ball during today’s IPL 2024 match against Lucknow Super Giants. The incident occurred in the first ball of the 10th over when Buttler dived forward at mid-off to catch a shot from Deepak Hooda, but the ball fell short and was later ruled a dead ball due to the striker’s bail having fallen off. Despite the play being stopped, Buttler injured the webbing on his left hand and left the field for medical treatment.
Previously, Buttler had missed a match earlier this month for Rajasthan Royals due to fitness issues but returned as an Impact Player against Kolkata Knight Riders, where he scored a stunning century.
Following his injury against Lucknow, there was uncertainty about his ability to open the batting alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal. Although initially seen without his gear and in discussion with coaches, Buttler ultimately opened the innings, scoring 34 off 18 balls as Rajasthan chased their eighth win of the season.
In the same match, Lucknow’s Krunal Pandya also appeared to suffer a hamstring injury after scoring 15*, adding to the injury concerns of the day.
