[Saba Sports News] On May 19, Yash Dayal emerged as a hero for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) during a critical match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
In the final over, with 17 runs needed by CSK, Dayal was tasked with containing the formidable duo of MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja. He successfully defended the runs, securing a 27-run victory for RCB and propelling them into the playoffs of IPL 2024.
Previously criticized for conceding five consecutive sixes in the last over of an IPL 2023 match, Dayal faced significant backlash, affecting him and his family. However, after delivering a match-winning performance, Dayal immediately connected with his mother via video call, asking, “Kaisa feel kar rahi ho (how are you feeling mom?)”.
Chandrapal, Dayal’s father, shared that despite Dhoni’s six off the first ball, Yash remained confident and composed. He recounted Yash’s reflection on the over, “I was confident of pulling it off after the first-ball six and was calm and composed. That terrifying dream of last season started to haunt me when Dhoni hit that six off the first ball.”
Chandrapal also humorously noted the family’s busy day, saying, “Khana Khane ko time hi nahin mila hai itne sare phone calls aa rahe hain subaah se (I haven’t had time to eat with the inundation of calls since morning),” highlighting the overwhelming response to his son’s performance.
