[Saba Sports News] The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced on June 21 that no definitive decision has been made regarding the white-ball series against Afghanistan scheduled for July and August.
Initially, Afghanistan was expected to host Bangladesh for two Tests, three ODIs, and three T20Is after the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. However, a revised schedule now proposes three ODIs and three T20Is in Greater Noida from July 25 to August 6.
Both boards are considering scheduling the two Tests for 2025 due to Bangladesh’s busy 2024 red-ball calendar. Post-T20 World Cup, Bangladesh will tour Pakistan for two Tests, followed by a series in India with two Tests and three T20Is. In October, they will host South Africa for two Tests and tour the West Indies in November-December for two Tests, three ODIs, and three T20Is.
BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury confirmed discussions about the six white-ball matches but stated no final decision has been made. “The series was earlier penciled in the FTP, but we’re yet to finalize anything,” he said.
BCB cricket operations chairman Jalal Yunus noted weather conditions in India as a potential issue. “We are yet to confirm the series. The weather is not conducive during that time,” he said.
A final decision will be made after consulting the team management to avoid overburdening the players.
