[Saba Sports News] India’s historic T20 World Cup 2024 triumph maintained an unblemished record with victories in all eight matches, ending their 11-year wait for an ICC title. They clinched a thrilling seven-run victory at Kensington Oval, Barbados, celebrating joyously with their families on the ground.
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah congratulated Rohit Sharma and the team by joining them on the outfield, overseeing the medal presentation, and participating in the trophy-lifting ceremony. On June 30, Shah announced on X, “I am pleased to announce prize money of INR 125 Crores for Team India for winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. The team has showcased exceptional talent, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. Congratulations to all the players, coaches, and support staff for this outstanding achievement!”
Before the tournament, ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice highlighted the substantial prize money for players and teams, with India receiving $2.45 million (INR 20.42 crore) for winning the event.
Next, the Men in Blue will travel to Zimbabwe for a five-match T20I series, with Shubman Gill leading a fresh Indian team. Youngsters like Abhishek Sharma and Riyan Parag, who excelled in IPL 2024, have earned national call-ups. NCA chief VVS Laxman will accompany the team as head coach for the tour until a new coach is appointed to replace Rahul Dravid.
