[Saba Sports News] Young India all-rounder Abhishek Sharma had a fantastic performance in the second T20I against Zimbabwe in Harare. Under pressure after a poor first game and with Yashasvi Jaiswal set to join the squad, Abhishek responded brilliantly, playing an aggressive innings that troubled Zimbabwe.
After skipper Shubman Gill was dismissed in the second over, Abhishek took time to settle before unleashing a flurry of boundaries. He hit seven boundaries and eight sixes, recording his maiden international century.
Post-match, Abhishek revealed he used Gill’s bat to score the century, highlighting their close friendship and shared mentorship by former cricketer Yuvraj Singh. Abhishek shared, “Whenever I need runs, I ask for Shubman’s bat.”
Abhishek’s blistering knock helped India post 234 runs in the first innings. The bowlers restricted Zimbabwe to 134, securing a 100-run victory. Abhishek was named Player of the Match and spoke about his game plan, emphasizing his confidence and readiness to hit if the ball is in his arc.
“I felt today was my day and made it count. T20 is about momentum, and I took it to the end. Special thanks to the coaches, captains, and team management for their confidence. If it’s in my arc, even if it’s the first ball, I’ll go after it,” Abhishek said in the post-match presentation.
