[Saba Sports News] ndia captain Rohit Sharma made his international debut in 2007 under Rahul Dravid’s leadership. His potential earned him a spot in India’s 2007 T20 World Cup squad, but inconsistency led to multiple drops. In 2013, MS Dhoni’s decision to promote him as an opener transformed Rohit into one of the greatest white-ball openers.
Dravid, who witnessed Rohit’s growth firsthand, praised his evolution as both a player and leader. Under Rohit’s captaincy, India reached three ICC finals in 13 months, winning one. His performance with the bat in the 2023 ODI World Cup and the 2024 T20 World Cup impressed Dravid.
“I have really enjoyed working with Rohit. Seeing him grow as a person and leader in Indian cricket has been a tribute to his dedication and effort. I’ve enjoyed getting to know him as a person too,” Dravid told BCCI.
Dravid also praised Virat Kohli for his dedication and hunger to excel. Although Kohli missed several bilateral series in recent years, Dravid fondly recalled his tenure as India’s Test captain and noted his relentless drive to improve.
“I only worked with Kohli in a few series and Test matches when he was captain. His desire to improve and get better is fascinating to watch,” Dravid said.
