[Saba Sports News] India skipper Rohit Sharma had offered to give up his T20 World Cup 2024 bonus to ensure fair compensation for all support staff even before head coach Rahul Dravid’s praised decision.
Following India’s historic T20 World Cup 2024 win, the BCCI awarded the team a substantial bonus of INR 125 crore, with an initial distribution plan allocating different amounts to team members and support staff.
According to Dainik Jagran, Rohit, who was set to receive INR 5 crore, was unhappy with the disparity and volunteered to give up his share for fairer compensation among the support staff. This information came to light from a team member during the flight back from Barbados to India.
Dravid, originally slated to receive INR 5 crore, chose to accept only half, matching other coaching staff members at INR 2.5 crore each. In response, the BCCI revised the distribution plan, allocating INR 2 crore each to strength and conditioning coaches, physios, analysts, and other support staff, ensuring a more equitable distribution of the prize money.
