[Saba Sports News] India Champions triumphed in the World Championship of Legends final, defeating Pakistan Champions by five wickets.
In the tournament’s inaugural edition, six teams competed, with India emerging as champions. Chasing a target of 157, India faced pressure after losing Ambati Rayudu and Gurkeerat Singh Mann. Yusuf Pathan then played a quickfire 30 off 16 balls, guiding India to victory in the 20th over.
Irfan Pathan sealed the win with a boundary on the first ball of the final over and celebrated by lifting his brother Yusuf. The Pathan brothers, who had earlier faced a miscommunication issue resulting in Irfan’s run-out against South Africa Champions, were pivotal in the semifinal against Australia, both scoring half-centuries. Their post-victory hug and Irfan lifting Yusuf went viral.
Yusuf recently won the Indian General Elections from the Berhampur constituency in West Bengal, becoming a Member of Parliament. Irfan continues his role as a commentator and participates in various franchise leagues such as the Legends League Cricket, Road Safety League, and WCL.
This is the second title the brothers have won together, the first being the 2007 T20 World Cup where Irfan was named Man of the Match in the final against Pakistan, and Yusuf replaced the injured Virender Sehwag.
