[Saba Sports News] Travis Head broke many Indian hearts with his match-winning performance in the World Cup 2023 final, leading Australia to victory over India on their home turf. Yet, the same Indian fans warmly welcomed him when he joined Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2024, where he played impressively.
Having spent considerable time in India recently, Head shared his thoughts on Indian culture after participating in his first Major League Cricket. The Indian crowd, which was dominant during the World Cup final, continued to support Head as he donned the orange jersey for SRH and maintained a strike rate of around 200.
“The most enjoyable thing about India is how friendly everyone is, how well we get looked after, the hotels we stay in. There are some amazing places to eat and see, and there’s a couple of really good golf courses to get away. We’re very fortunate when we’re there to be very well looked after,” said Head in an interview.
“Obviously, the crowds and the venues that we play at are outstanding as well, but there’s a fair due away from the game as well if we want to or just chill. It’s always a great experience being in India,” he added.
Now 30, Head is making his debut in MLC and is set to play in the final on August 11 with Washington Freedom. He expressed his enjoyment of the MLC season and his time in the United States, highlighting the pleasure of playing with both international and local teammates like Saurabh Netravalkar and Andries Gous.
“Love my time over here in the MLC first year. Some nice overseas players for the Washington team but also some guys like Saurabh and Andries, who are the locals that I’ve really enjoyed meeting and playing with. The first year, it’s been great fun,” he concluded.
