[Saba Sports News] Kerala is set to launch its first state-based league, the Kerala Cricket League (KCL), with the logo unveiled by the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) on August 9. Kerala’s own Sanju Samson, India’s wicket-keeper batter, unveiled the logo at a ceremony in Thiruvananthapuram.
Samson has also been named the icon of the KCL, with matches scheduled at the Greenfield International Stadium from September 2 to 19.
The league will feature 168 players in the auction, with each franchise drafting 20 players. Alongside the league logo, individual franchise logos were also revealed.
The player auction is set for August 10 at the Hyatt Regency, with Charu Sharma conducting the briefing and a mock auction. The league will feature two matches daily, including day-night games, and will be officially launched by legendary actor and KCL brand ambassador Mohanlal on August 31.
Icon players for the league include P A Abdul Basit, Sachin Baby, Mohammad Azharuddin, Basil Thambi, Vishnu Vinod, and Rohan S Kunnammal. The auction will have three categories:
- Category A: IPL and Ranji Trophy players with a base price of ₹2 lakh.
- Category B: C K Naidu, U-23, U-19 State, and U-19 Challengers players with a base price of ₹1 lakh.
- Category C: U-16 state players, university players, and club cricketers with a base price of ₹50,000.
