[Saba Sports News] Yash Dhull caught attention by scoring 229 runs in four matches during the Under-19 World Cup 2022, playing a key role in India’s title win, including a century against Australia in the semi-final. His talent was further showcased during his Ranji Trophy debut for Delhi in the 2021-22 season, where he scored twin centuries.
Dhull, who became Delhi’s highest run-getter in the 2022-23 season with 1199 runs at an average of 47.96, faced a major health challenge when a hole in his heart was detected during a routine check at the National Cricket Academy (NCA).
After undergoing surgery, Dhull returned to the field for the ongoing Delhi Premier League. However, commentators have noted some rustiness in his batting.
As captain of Central Delhi Kings, Dhull stepped down, later playing as an Impact Player and changing his batting position before opting for rest in the fifth fixture. He has accumulated just 93 runs at an average of under 20 and a strike rate of 113.41 across five games in the league.
Despite the challenges, Dhull remains optimistic, saying, “It’s taking time, but I’m positive and will give 100% for my game.” His father explained that the hole in his heart was a condition from birth, and the NCA recommended a minor surgical procedure, which Dhull underwent in Delhi under BCCI supervision.
