Musheer Khan, 19, has reportedly had an incredible first-class season. He is expected to go to Australia for the India A shadow tour, which consists of three “four-day” Test matches. Musheer has impressed with his 181 for India B against India A, having struck a century in the final and a double hundred in the Ranji quarterfinal.
The Indian The Irani Cup match between Mumbai, the Ranji champions, and the rest of India will determine the team for the Australia tour, which will take place prior to the Irani Trophy matches. Two names that are almost guaranteed to make it are Musheer and Rajasthan left-arm spinner Manav Suthar, who has surpassed Saurabh Kumar as the second greatest left-arm spinner after Ravindra Jadeja and Axar. A few Test specialists and pacers may also be sent early.
As things stand, Musheer would definitely travel with India A on their Australian tour assuming there are no fitness concerns.
Insiders predict that Musheer will benefit from his skill and preference for large scores on important days (like the Ranji Trophy final) and against strong opponents (like an opposing pace attack with Avesh Khan, Khaleel Ahmed, and Akash Deep).
In addition, his temperament of playing 373 balls (62.1 overs out of 116 overs) and his combination with Navdeep Saini, a tailender, have helped him stand out.
While everyone was delighted by Sarfaraz Khan’s brave approach during the home series against England, KL Rahul will have the benefit due to his experience when it comes to selecting the playing XI for India’s opening Test series against Bangladesh, which begins in Chennai on September 19.
The Australian tour in November and December is thought to be the selection committee’s and team management’s primary emphasis, and Rahul is in a good position because of his 50 Test experience.
