South Africa decided to bat against Scotland in the sweltering Dubai afternoon, in part to save their bowlers from having to work in temperatures beyond thirty. On the UAE tracks, pursuing teams have also typically performed better.
Both teams are coming off losses; on Monday, South Africa lost to England, and on Sunday, Scotland was humiliated by the West Indies. However, neither team has changed.
Where South Africa have two points on the board, having beaten West Indies in the tournament opener, Scotland are still looking for their first win.
