[Saba Sports News] Top-ranked T20I batter Travis Head has signed a fresh one-year contract with the Adelaide Strikers, despite missing the entire 2023-24 season due to national commitments.
His availability for the upcoming season remains uncertain with Australia’s busy international schedule, including a five-match Test series against India and a tour of Sri Lanka.
Head’s signing boosts the Strikers’ batting lineup, which already includes Matt Short, Chris Lynn, Alex Carey, and England’s Ollie Pope. The South Australian franchise is eyeing a strong BBL season as they continue to push for their first title since 2017-18.
Thrilled about the new deal, Head expressed his excitement, “I’m pumped to sign for another year and can’t wait to be back with the team under our new coach Tim Paine. I love pulling on the blue and look forward to helping the boys go further this season.”
Head coach Tim Paine shared his enthusiasm, acknowledging Head’s international commitments but emphasizing his passion for returning to the BBL when possible.
Paine praised Head’s remarkable form, citing his recent 154* in an ODI against England as proof of his consistency and aggressive play.
In 2024, Head has been unstoppable, racking up 539 runs from 15 innings at an extraordinary strike rate of 178.47. His explosive performances, particularly in the powerplay, have made him one of the most impactful openers in the game.
