[Saba Sports News] The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced that uncapped lHasan eft-arm spinner Hasan Murad will replace all-rounder Shakib al Hasan in the squad for the first Test against South Africa, starting on October 21 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.
It had been reported earlier that Shakib was unlikely to participate due to security concerns.
“We’ve been informed Shakib won’t be available for the first Test. He’s nearing the end of his Test career, and we don’t yet have someone with his all-round skills to fully replace him,” said Gazi Ashraf Hossain, chairman of BCB’s selection panel.
“However, Hasan Murad has been a consistent performer in first-class cricket and is well integrated into our system. He will add balance to our bowling, especially in home conditions, and we believe he can deliver at this level,” Hossain added.
The 23-year-old Murad has taken 136 wickets in 30 first-class matches since his debut in 2021.
