[Saba Sports News] Sarfaraz Khan seized his opportunity in the opening Test against New Zealand, scoring his maiden international century as India cut the first-innings deficit to under 100 by Day 4 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
After being dismissed for a duck in the first innings, Sarfaraz’s wild celebration—removing his helmet, roaring, swinging his bat, and showing it to the dressing room and crowd—left captain Rohit Sharma in stitches.
His celebration followed a boundary off Tim Southee in the 57th over, marking his impressive comeback after India had collapsed to 46 in the first innings.
Rohit later burst into uncontrollable laughter, nearly falling off his seat after watching a replay of Sarfaraz’s antics.
Rishabh Pant, rested on Day 3 due to a knee injury, partnered with Sarfaraz on Day 4, nearly forming a century stand as India closed in on a 350-run total, leaving New Zealand’s bowlers baffled.
