In the first-ever Global Super League, the Guyana Amazon Warriors of the Caribbean Premier League will play the Lahore Qalandars of the Pakistan Super League. The Rangpur Riders (BPL), Victoria (Australian state team), and Hampshire Hawks (T20 Blast) will also compete in the five-team T20 league. Before the top two teams advance to the final on December 7, eleven games, including the championship game, will be contested over a number of days beginning on November 26.
Every year, many teams from all around the world will compete in the yearly event. All of the games will be place in Providence, Guyana.
The league demonstrates Guyana’s “ambition to become a global sporting destination,” according to Giles White, Hampshire’s director of men’s cricket. Cricket has long lacked international club competition, which has shown itself to be effective in other sports. Cricket West Indies (CWI) has approved it, and the Guyana government, a “key stakeholder” in the competition, has “fully supported” it. The competition includes a $1 million prize fund.
Between November 22 and December 4, the West Indies will host Bangladesh for two Test matches. Warriors, whose roster includes players like Shamar Joseph, Gudakesh Motie, and Kevin Sinclair who are also a member of the West Indies Test lineup, may experience availability concerns as a result of the ensuing match. Hasan Mahmud, who may play for Bangladesh, is another player who could have a direct impact on Rangpur Riders.
The availability of Babar Azam, who played six games for Rangpur in the BPL 2024, and Shaheen Afridi, the captain of the Qalandars, among others, is also in question since Pakistan is scheduled to embark on an all-format tour of South Africa, beginning with the T20Is on December 10.
The league will also clash with Abu Dhabi T10, slated to be held from November 21 to December 2.
