[Saba Sports News] A combination of alertness, coordination, and quick decision-making led to Will Young’s dismissal on Day 1 of the second Test between India and New Zealand at Pune’s MCA Stadium.
R Ashwin bowled a floated delivery down the leg side, which brushed Young’s glove, though neither Ashwin nor wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant appeared convinced.
However, Sarfaraz Khan, positioned at backward short-leg, immediately appealed. Virat Kohli, sensing an opportunity, quickly ran in from midwicket and persuaded captain Rohit Sharma to go for the review.
Rohit agreed, and the Ultra-Edge confirmed a faint spike as the ball grazed Young’s glove. Simon Doull, on commentary, praised Sarfaraz and Kohli for their sharp thinking, giving Sarfaraz credit for his awareness.
Following Young’s dismissal, Rachin Ravindra impressed with a half-century, using the crease skillfully to handle India’s spinners.
However, he was bowled by a brilliant delivery from Washington Sundar just before Tea.
Ashwin, with Young’s wicket, surpassed Nathan Lyon to become the leading wicket-taker in the current World Test Championship.
